LOCATION
Located in the small township of Morven, it is ideally placed to capitalise on the major honey flows just 200 kms to the west in the Queensland channel country, where we hold an extensive network of apiary sites, both private and leasehold. We are the only permanent beekeepers who operate within a 400km radius of Morven. The town has most services:- primary school with 25 metre swimming pool, free bus service to Charleville daily for high school students, health clinic that is serviced by a registered nurse from Monday to Friday and a doctor who visits once a week, rail and bus services, grocery store, hotel, newsagent, cafe and a roadhouse

APIARY SITES
All of our apiary sites are recorded by GPS, along with the track to the site. All of this information is computerised and represents many hundreds of hours of research, but it is now paying huge dividends. We tie this information with Google Earth and the Australian Bureau of Meteorology website and with local knowledge can accurately predict honey flows in the district. Over the last 7 years we have identified several species of native ground flora that have, to the best of our knowledge, never been worked by commercial beekeepers. All of this information will be passed on to the buyer and we will continue to advise buyer of prospects into the foreseeable future. Because of ill health we have no intention of continuing in the industry |

HONEY PRODUCTION
This country can produce huge crops of good quality honey between the months of May and October. The honey produced is completely free of any forms of residue, as there is no cultivation for at least 300kms in any direction. It is capable of producing 200kgs per colony per season in good years. From October to January we move back to the Morven district and produce honey from bimble box and river red gum. We then look for suitable breeding conditions and concentrate on requeening and building numbers, before returning to the channel country in May |

|
BEES WAX
The wax we produce is pristine because we do not use antibiotics or insecticides in our hives. Presently we simply exchange our wax for foundation, but we would like to market it as pure bees wax on the international market to maximise returns for this unique product
|
|
QUEEN BEES
Currently we breed queens only for our own use. We selectively breed from our own stock and introduce a limited number of proven stock from commerical queen breeders every second year. We pay a lot of attention to hygienic behaviour, gentleness, and honey production. There is an excellent opportunity to extend the business in this direction as some locations in the far west are free of feral bees because of the extreme temperature in summer
|
|
MARKETING OUR HONEY
We currently market directly to supermarkets and fruit and vegetable stores to ensure the best return for our product. We hold the necessary certification to do that. We sell the remainder to honey packers in Brisbane |

PROPERTY AND EQUIPMENT
Includes two residences with furnishings, sheds, 2 vehicles, extracting plant, honey packing facilities, cold room for honey super storage, plus 400 x 8 frame hives and supers, plus material to make up another 200 hives, all woodwork machinery and tools, and the necessary equipment to run the business |
|
|
EXISTING EMPLOYEE
We have in our employ a young Philippino beekeeper who has been with us since March 09. He has proven to be an excellent worker and a very efficient queenbee breeder. He came to Australia on the regional migration scheme and has a permanent visa for himself and his family. He is committed to work for us until March 2011. He currently lives in one of the residences

|
IMMIGRATION
Because this business is located in western Queensland it falls under the regional migration scheme, which gives incentives for migrants to work in rural areas. We will give every assistance with immigration for a suitable buyer

ORGANIC HONEY PRODUCTION AND EXPORT
There is an excellent opportunity to move the business in this direction. The area we operate in is absolutely free of all forms of contaminants. We do not have varroa and we do not treat our hives with antibotics and all of our beesites qualify. We have recently applied for certification and are looking for an importer to take approx 50 tons per annum.
We are capable of producing 80 tonnes of honey a year. The current extracting and packing facilities would qualify for organic status, but the building may have to be lined and the floor re-surfaced or re- painted. The Port of Brisbane is 700kms away and has services to all countries

|
This business commenced in 1999 with a handful of hives, a ute (pick up), and a caravan, and has been through one of the biggest recorded droughts in Australia's history and survived. Consequently, its figures for the earlier years are not good but it has managed to pay for its own development and the figures of late are greatly improved. The current owners are forced to leave the industry because of health problems, and there are no family members to continue the business. This is an excellent opportunity to buy this truly unique business and if the buyer is committed it will make a lot of money. Where else in the world today could you find such a productive beekeeping enterprise free of varroa, GM crops, antibiotics, colony collapse disorder, and live in an orderly western society virtually free of crime, and enjoy the lifestyle that is Australia.
The asking price for this business is $AU675,000, on a walk in-walk out basis. We are prepared to assist the buyer for the foreseeable future with decision making matters such as where to place hives etc. The business will make money for the buyer from day one
PROSPECTIVE BUYERS ONLY WILL BE PLACED IN CONTACT WITH THE VENDOR
